Lou comes from a musical background, and played several ‘traditional’ instruments (cello, piano, clarinet) before deciding that wasn’t really for her. Attending plenty of rock and blues gigs at a young age, she found herself drawn to the sound of the bass. Aged 14 she saved up all her pennies and bought her first bass, for Christmas that year she got all the other bits and bobs a bass player finds essential (tuner fish etc). Lou decided not to bother with lessons and instead flung herself in at the deep end, joining bands and then practising hard to keep up!
Lou now plays a stick bass, which is basically an electric double bass (but much more funky) which fits in well with the acoustic sound of Green Fortune. Lou is new to folk music, but says she loves the freedom it gives her and is enjoying every minute!
Lou is also a local acupuncturist working in Burton-on-Trent.
